Newburyport’s Annual “Yankee Homecoming” BluesCruise features Shor'ty Billups & The Foxxx Band. Shor'ty Billups is the widely-acclaimed "Stateman of the Blues" having a music career spanning more than 6 decades. As the original drummer for R&B icon Wilson Pickett, Shor'ty has created a legacy through his soulful performances throughout North America and Europe. This is a relaxing three hour sunset & fireworks cruise and departs from Plum Island Point at 7:00 pm. A cash bar is available with complimentary chips n' dip served. Annual Labor Day Festival BluesCruise featuring Mr. James Montgomery with Alizon Lisssance, Sergio Bellotti, "Mudcat" Ward & J. Laite Saturday August 31, 7 PM Newburyport’s Annual Labor Day Festival BluesCruise features Mr. James Montgomery & The BluesCruise All Star Band. James Montgomery is an international blues legend having electrified audiences around the world since 1970. Nominated for the Grammy Award, Montgomery has toured with major artists including Aerosmith, Bonnie Raitt, Bruce Springsteen, the Allman Brothers, Steve Miller and others. He has jammed on stage with B.B. King, Buddy Guy, John Lee Hooker, Jr. Wells, James Cotton, Charlie Daniels, Bonnie Raitt, Greg Allman, Laverne Baker, Patti LaBelle, and Peter Wolf, including an impromptu session with Mick Jagger at New York’s “Trax” recording studio. Keyboardist and vocalist Alizon Lissance is one of New England’s best-loved performers. Her gutsy rock 'n blues style has delighted audiences on national and international stages. A Boston Music Awards winner, Alizon has worked with, among others, Lavern Baker, Mighty Sam McClain and Laurie Sargent as well as being a founding member of top New England bands Girls' Night Out and The Love Dogs. The highly acclaimed percussionist Sergio Bellotti is on the faculty of Berklee College of Music, and has performed with Mike Stern, Wayne Krantz, Bob James, Robben Ford, Frank Wilkins and Tino D'Agostino. This is a relaxing three hour sunset & fireworks cruise and departs from Plum Island Point at 7:00 pm. A cash bar is available with complimentary chips n' dip served.
