EVENT INFORMATION

Erin Harpe and the Delta Swingers

Saturday July 14, 2018, 7 PM

“Erin Harpe is one of the most dynamic, talented and exciting roots rocking blues women on the scene
and it’s time she gets noticed, as she has it all — a golden voice and the guitar chops that dazzle. As
many of the great divas of the roots rocking blues are aging, the emerging new generation, like Imelda
May, Grace Potter and Erin Harpe are firing up younger audiences, and Erin Harpe makes it as fun and
exciting as ever, and that’s a good thing for the blues.”

The Shirley Lewis Memorial Cruise featuring  a New Orleans Riverboat Party with Henri Smith, Amadee Castenell & “Friends and Flavours of NOLA”

Saturday August 25, 2018, 7 PM

Join us for our New Orleans River Cruise featuring New Orleans born and bred Henri Smith with Amadee Castenell and friends. Henri & Amadee bring the real deal spirit, sounds and “flavours” of NOLA. Join us on THE best New Orleans-style riverboat cruise this side of the Mississippi!

A native of New Orleans, Henri Smith frequently appeared at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival with artists such as Allen Toussaint, The Neville Brothers, Ellis Marsalis and Kermit Ruffins.  With his sophisticated swing and dramatic delivery of jazz, blues, and Cajun-flavored music, Smith’s career blossomed.

After losing his home to Hurricane Katrina in 2005, Smith moved to New England. Here he reconnected with fellow New Orleans musicians including Grammy Award-winning saxophonist Aaron Neville, lifelong friend, trumpeter and composer, Stanton Davis, the legendary Amadee Castenell and percussionist Charles Burchell, and created the band “Friends and Flavours”.   They perform a variety of styles including swing, funk, brass band-second line, R&B, latin, cajun, calypso and blues.

Veteran saxophonist Amadee Castenell has recorded and toured with an impressive list of major stars including Paul McCartney, Bonnie Raitt, Elvis Costello, Allen Toussaint, Billy Joel, Paul Simon, Etta James, Ruth Brown, Dolly Parton, Dr. John, The Neville Brothers, James Cotton, Albert King and Linda Ronstadt.

Also appearing are New England favorites percussionist Charles Burchell, “Ben S.” on keyboards, Zwe Bell LePere on upright bass and J. Laite on lead and slide guitar.

Our cruise honors the life and legacy of Shirley Lewis, The “Regal Queen of the Blues” without whose
inspiration and selflessness, these annual music events would not have been successful.

This is a relaxing three hour sunset cruise on the Merrimack River and departs from downtown Newburyport Waterfront Park at 7:00 pm. A cash bar is available with complimentary chips n’ salsa served.
